FARM INTERN 

Start: May 14 or after

End: August 17 or after

Days: Monday-Friday, some Saturday mornings

Hours: 36-40 hrs per week. 

Compensation: $650 per month stipend plus housing, lunches, and vegetables

Responsibilities: A Farm Intern will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with fellow vegetable farmers, participating in tasks essential to vegetable production at Old Plank Farm. This include seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing vegetables. Other tasks an intern may be involved in could include: working at on-farm Pizza Dinner events, deliveries, greenhouse work, vegetable processing, and general farm maintenance/building. Interns will have access to books and other resources related to organic vegetable production.

Skills Desired: Must be able to work well independently or with a team. Must be able to work under difficult environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain), and be able to lift at least 40 lbs. on a regular basis. Must have a positive attitude, interest in efficiency, passion for learning, and a sense of humor.

WORKING-MEMBER

Work on the farm in exchange for veggies!

Small share farm members work a two hour shift each week for their box, and large share farm members work a three hour shift each week for their box.

We ask that working members plan to work at least 18 weeks out of our 20 week delivery season (typically mid June-Nov.). Weekly shift days and times are listed below.

2019 Working Member Options

Monday Morning Harvest Crew Member
8-10am (small share) 8-11am (large share)

We are looking for 2 people to join our harvest crew. On a typical Monday morning our harvest crew will be cutting greens in the field or harvesting fruit crops (like tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers). Harvest crew members must be prepared and able to work in sun, rain, or cold, and lift up to 40lbs.

Monday Afternoon Packing Shed Crew
Available shifts between 1pm and 5:30pm
Our packing shed crew helps prepare our veggies for delivery by washing, weighing, and bagging produce.

Tuesday Morning Boxing Crew Member
8-10am (small share) 8-11am (large share)
We are looking for 1-2 people who would like to join our assembly line and pack the CSA Boxes.

Friday Morning Harvest/Field Work Crew Member
8-10am (small share) 8-11am (large share)
Join our crew in the field Friday mornings. On Fridays we typically harvest root (carrots, beets) or fruit crops (tomatoes, cucumbers), or do other field work like trellising tomatoes and weeding.
Harvest/Field crew members must be prepared and able to work in sun, rain, or cold, and lift up to 40 lbs.

FIELD CREW MEMBER

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 

Hours: 16-32 hrs per week depending on candidate’s availability and farm’s needs. 

Compensation: starting $8/hr + vegetable seconds”. No housing or meals. 

Responsibilities: A FIELD CREW MEMBER is required to participate in tasks essential to vegetable production at Old Plank Farm. This includes, but is not limited to: seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing vegetables. Other tasks that may be occasionally required include: greenhouse work, vegetable processing, washing and packing eggs, and general farm maintenance.
